Young Millie from Kansas arrives in 1920s New York determined to do the thoroughly modern thing and marry for money.

She sets her cap at her boring boss – only to discover marrying for love is not so old fashioned after all.

With its beautiful art deco sets, this well-paced, beautifully dressed production makes for a thoroughly entertaining evening.

As Millie, Becki Cawthra was outstanding. Her engaging combination of innocence and self-awareness was spot on. She sang expressively, acted convincingly and danced well, ably supported by Adam Smith as true-love Jimmy, Stephen Convey as her boss and Yvonne White as her dippy friend.

Cathryn Moorhouse was perfectly cast as Muzzy and Marilyn Mitchell had fun with sinister Mrs Meers, as did her partners in crime Adam Colbeck-Dunn and Jonny Hirst.

All the cast were committed and focused and the orchestra under Ian Sapiro was superb. On until Saturday.
