Halifax's '˜Hurricane Hannah' Cockroft scoops gold in Rio with record time
Cockroft, from Mount Tabor and a former student of Trinity School, Holmfield, retained her 100m T34 title in a Paralympic record time of 17.42 seconds.
The 24-year-old’s medal came hot on the heels of Steve Bate’s gold in the men’s individual pursuit track cycling event last Thursday.

Hide AdHannah will next compete in the 400m T34 heats tomorrow at 3.50pm and the 400m T34 final at 9.40pm on Wednesday.
The 800m T34 final will be held on Friday at 10.15pm.
Wheelchair basketball player Harry Brown and wheelchair cyclist Karen Darke, both from Calderdale, are also competing in Rio.
