Calderdale cycling pals take a ride down memory lane for charity
In 1988, Andrew Senior and Carl Newsome cycled to Blackpool and back to raise money in support of the Courier’s appeal to bring a body scanner to Halifax.
The pair raised £474 and hope to smash that amount when they take to the saddle again for charity.

“The response was quite good and we felt proud when we had completed it.”
Two years ago the friends, both originally from Hebden Bridge, decided to complete exactly the same ride again.
Andrew added: “I got in touch with Carl and asked if he would be interested in doing it again to raise some more money.

The friends will set off from Hebden Bridge on Saturday September 6 to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
It’s a charity close to their hearts after Andrews dad lost his battle with cancer four years go and Carl’s wife Sam is currently undergoing treatment for the disease.
Carl said: “It’s about raising money and having a good day out.
“We’d like to smash what we raised last time and hopefully get to £1000.”
