BDO darts champion Scott Waites dropped by pub team
The 38-year-old made the revelation today before resuming work as a carpenter for Pennine Housing 2000 in Calderdale.
Waites, who thrashed Canadian Jeff Smith 7-1 in Sunday’s final at Lakeside, said he had done little partying after the success due to a cold and had been ready to play again on Monday evening.

Waites explained that there were seven players for five places in the team so someone always had to sit out.
When he had turned up for the match at 8.25 it became clear he would only have a supporting role.
“My name was not on teamsheet,” said an amused Waites, who added that his Commercial side had still won.

Waites, who also won the title in 2013, is one of a small band of top players who still have a nine ‘til five job.
His first task back, amid the press calls and TV appearances, was at Willow Court flats in Elland.
