Why is three-mile bus journey so difficult?

"PASSENGERS must protest to improve our service", says Pat Hubbard (Courier, November 20).
Well done. The two-an-hour service, which used to travel up through the top of Mixenden through Pellon, has been reduced to one an hour. This particular bus no longer goes round the edge of the estate. It goes straight up Clough Lane now, failing many passengers.
A colleague of mine said he waited some 50 minutes halfway down Pellon after visiting the doctor's surgery to get back to Mixenden. What on earth is going on with this bad service? He decided to head back to town.
In times where we are encouraged to leave cars at home and travel by bus, there is no encouragement.
If this particular bus misses, that means a two-hour wait.
Could I remind First that it only takes one hour and 20 minutes to get to Blackpool, so why is it so difficult to get from Pellon to Mixenden three miles up the road?
