ONE of Calderdale's largest youth theatre groups presents a new musical show next week.
Todmorden Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society's youth section, the Todmorden Hippodrome Youth Theatre, invites you to join Horton the Elephant on his adventure to save Whoville.

Along the way you will meet The Cat in the Hat, played by Callum Macrae (pictured), and all the amazing characters from the Dr Seuss tales as they are brought to life in the musical Seussical.

Featuring a cast of more than 70 young people aged 10 to 18 from the Upper Calder Valley, it promises spectacular entertainment for people of all ages to fill the dark December nights. Volunteers have been working hard backstage on building a set and making many props along with an enormous number of costumes.

The orchestra will be under the baton of Helen Clarkson, Hippodrome Youth Theatre director and musical leader for more 15 years.

The show runs from Tuesday until Saturday at the community-run Edwardian Hippodrome Theatre, Halifax Road, Todmorden (7.30pm). Tickets are available now by calling Sylvia on 0870 770 5681 or in person from Todmorden Tourist Information Centre where card payments over £10 can now be taken.

All tickets are £6 on the opening night, £8 Wednesday to Friday (£6 concessions) and all £8 on Saturday. Bookings of 10 tickets or over can get a 10 per cent discount.
