COMEDY fans had to be turned away from the Victoria Theatre, Halifax, when comedienne Rhona Cameron failed to turn up for her show.
Theatre staff were informed mid-morning she had been taken ill, which sparked a flurry of phone calls to as many ticket holders as possible during the day.
Rhona's show had gone ahead as planned in Northampton the night before but a spokesman for the Victoria said the Scottish stand-up comic had later gone to the doctor and been advised not to perform on Saturday.
"We contacted as many people as possible by telephone and had people at the theatre in the evening to advise them how to get refunds.
"You never know when an artist is going to fall ill, but they are human at the end of the day.
"Obviously refunds will be made by the promoter."
Rhona's manager Debbie Pisani yesterday confirmed that Rhona had cancelled due to becoming unwell.
