OVENDEN West Riding hit top spot in the Premier Division when they continued their winnings way with a 5-2 success at Ardsley Celtic and Bay Athletic were held 2-2 at Hemsworth.
The game at Ardsley was virtually over after 20 minutes, the visitors storming into a 3-0 lead.

Ovenden drew first blood on five minutes when the persistent Steve Senior made inroads into the home back four and Steve Fullard's sweetly-struck 12-yarder beat Simon Smith.

Ian Hudson and Martin Ayscough were impressing in midfield for Ovenden, who extended their lead in a goalmouth scramble when Smith failed to hang on to Fullard's effort.

Dale Hanson and Asa Hatfield were having little success in their attempts to breach the Ovenden defence and Ayscough bagged the visitors third with a superb shot from fully 38 yards.

Ovenden sat back for long periods after that and a superb John Newton free-kick made it 3-1 on the hour.

Mick Palethorpe duplicated Newton's effort and although Newton scored with another free kick to make it 2-4 on 80 minutes, Fullard completed his hat-trick with a delightful lob.

Halifax Irish went down 3-1 at home to Golcar United but boss Richard Addy said there were some encouraging signs after a difficult month for the team.

Irish took the lead early on with a goal from Anthony McDonald, but Golcar levelled before the break when Matt Devlin struck.

The home side struggled to repeat their first half display after the break but it took a couple of late goals from Chris Fawcett and Adam Sanders to give the visitors the points.

"We played as a team for 60 per cent of the game," said Addy. "We got a lot more out of it than in the previous few weeks.

"We just couldn't finish Golcar off when we had the opportunities and they scored two late goals, but it was one of our best performances of the season."

Brighouse Town's hopes of bouncing back from their derby defeat at Ovenden were ended as they went down 2-1 at Campion.

Chris Graham gave the home side a 1-0 interval lead and despite a second-half striker from Ben Stephenson, Town were denied a share of the spoils by a goal from Sean Durkin.

Ovenden West Riding's Reserve Division clash with Bronte Wanderers was postponed.
