Halifax FA under 17s left Huddersfield with a 2-0 defeat but with plenty of respect after a closely fought match.
Both sides squandered early chances with Ben Sands crashing the ball against the underside of the crossbar.

Almost immediately Huddersfield replied, also hitting the woodwork, while Halifax were grateful for keeper James Horsfall keeping a clean
sheet at the break.

The second half started where the first had left off with both teams working hard to break the deadlock.

Again Halifax almost went in front when after a slick move down the right, Rob Stansfield was close to converting Joe Swallow's inch perfect cross.

But from the resulting counter-attack, Huddersfield scored with a long range effort that eluded the outstanding Horsfall.

As Halifax pushed for the equaliser they were once again hit on the counter attack and punished with Huddersfield's second.

CROSSLEY Colts under nines were emphatic 9-0 winners in their Shield clash with Todmorden

Captain Regan Armstrong slotted home the first of four goals following great linking play between Kian Sunderland and Lewis Spinner.

Armstrong netted again with Spinner scoring twice to make it 4-0 at the break.

Luke Miller went in goal to let Ben Bale have a run out and he put the ball through to Jack Randell who in turn set up Armstrong's third.

Crossley's good passing was paying off and Dion Oczabruk grabbed two goals, Paul Davis got one with Armstrong adding his fourth with a fine solo effort.

PARK Lane High Family of primary schools held their annual football festival on the astro-turf facility.

Despite the cold conditions more than 65 children enjoyed some really good competition.

There was an under nine and under 11 round-robin tournament with the competing schools being Withinfields, Siddal, Copley and Mt Pellon.

In the under nine event, the finalists were not decided until the last pool game with Withinfield squeezing into the final with a 4-3 win over unlucky.

Siddal did win the bronze medal by beating Mt Pellon in the third place play off.

In an exciting final Withinfields beat a very game Copley team to take the trophy.

In the under 11 event a very plucky Withinfields 'B' team gave a good account of themselves but came fifth. The third place play off between Withinfields A and Siddal resulted in the Withinfields team taking the bronze.

The final turned out to be the game of the evening with neither Copley or Mount Pellon able to break the deadlock and extra time had to be played.

Despite some near misses, the score was still 0-0 at the end of extra time so it was down to a penalty shoot-out.

The hero of the hour was the Copley keeper who saved the vital penalty.

Year 10 boys from Park Lane who officiated the games were Darryl Camp, Callum Henson, David Oakes and Ashley Pearson.
