FIFTY six children took part in a third two day summer holiday cricket programme at Illingworth St.Mary's Cricket Club as part of the Cricket Foundation's Chance to Shine 2008 Initiative.
Specially qualified ECB Coaches from the Illingworth club put under 11 teams from Illingworth, Copley CC and Southowram CC through their paces in a Kwik Cricket Day which consisted of batting, bowling and fielding skills.

A team made of representatives from each participating club were the eventual winners of a round robin series of conditioned games.

The under 13 boys and girls Inter Cricket Day was curtailed due to the poor weather but not before Southowram had shown their cricket knowledge and skills in a series of indoor 'cricket-olympic' activities.

These events brought to a conclusion Illingworth CC's Chance to Shine programme, which has been running in schools since April and is designed to bring cricket back to state schools and use cricket as a vehicle for education.
