Five deaths and 162 new Calderdale cases as UK is plunged into lockdown

NHS England figures show 355 people had died in hospital at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust as of 5pm on Sunday (January 3).
That was an increase of five compared to Friday, when there were 350.

Hide AdIt means there have been 10 deaths in the past week, up from nine the previous week.
Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death.
Public Health England figures show that 10,095 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am yesterday (Monday) in Calderdale, up from 9,933 the same time on Friday.
The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government's mass testing programme.

Hide AdAcross the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 171,498 over the period, to 2,713,563.
Calderdale's cases were among the 265,674 recorded across Yorkshire and The Humber, a figure which rose by 3,719 over the period.
Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
